Our Team

John A. Rizzo, CPA

John Rizzo was born in Niagara Falls, New York and received his B.S. degree, Magna Cum Laude, in Accounting from the State University of New York at Fredonia in 1995. While at Fredonia, John interned with Freed, Maxick, Sachs & Murphy, P.C. of Buffalo, New York. He moved to Rochester after graduation and joined Bonadio & Co., LLP in 1996 and was promoted to principal in 2004. After 9 years with Bonadio & Co., LLP, John formed Rizzo & DiGiacco, CPA’s, PLLC in September 2005 with Brian DiGiacco.

John is the managing partner of our firm and his expertise includes providing financial consulting to a wide-variety of commercial businesses. John serves as the temporary/interim CFO for several of our clients and also conducts financial statement and benefit plan audits. He also has extensive tax planning and preparation experience. John assisted over 50 companies in obtaining over $5 million in SBA disaster loan funding following the 9/11 disaster and has also assisted clients in obtaining training grant funding from New York State.

John was certified in 1998 and is a member of the board of directors and finance committee of the Boys and Girls Club of Rochester. John has also been a member of Business Networking International for over seven years and is a past member of the Family First of New York Credit Union Supervisory Committee.

John has been successful through hard work, dedication and treating his clients businesses as if they were his own.

Brian M. DiGiacco, CPA

Brian is the Partner in charge of our Audit Division. A Rochester native, Brian received his B.S. Degree in Accounting from the Rochester Institute of Technology in 1999. After graduation, he joined Davie Kaplan Chapman and Braverman and received his Certified Public Accountant License in 2001. In 2001, Brian was hired by Bonadio & Co., LLP, where he was employed as a Senior Manager until founding Rizzo & DiGiacco, CPA’s, PLLC in 2005.

Brian serves a variety of clients and specializes in conducting financial statement audits and providing tax planning advice to a wide variety of closely held commercial companies. His expertise also include employee benefit plan audits, as well as special project consulting including business plans, projections and agreed-upon procedures engagements.

Brian enjoys being involved in the local community including coaching youth soccer for the past six years and is a member of Business Networking International.

Timothy M. Hern, CPA

Timothy is a Partner in our Audit Division. His expertise includes conducting financial statement engagements, employee benefit plan audits, and providing accouting, tax and consulting services to tax-exempt organizations and closely-held commercial companies in Upstate New York. Timothy works with a wide range of clients, including manufacturing, construction, real estate, retail, service and tax-exempt entities. In his 12 years of public accounting experience, Timothy has also gained extensive tax planning and preparation experience.

A lifetime resident of Rochester, NY, Timothy received his B.S. Degree in Accounting from Rochester Institute of Technology in 2000, while also working an internship at a local accounting firm. Timothy joined the Bonadio Group upon graduation, where he was employed for 7+ years prior to joining Rizzo & DiGiacco. Timothy became a partner in the firm on January 1, 2011, at which time the firm became Rizzo, DiGiacco & Hern CPA’s, PLLC.

Timothy was certified in 2005 and is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the New York State Society of Certified Public Accountants. He also is a member of Business Networking International and served as the Treasurer of the Board of Directors of Mercy Residential Services for the past six years and is a member of the finance committee of Genesee Country Museum.

Christopher A. Harris, CPA

Christopher is a Manager in the Audit Division. He brings more than 10 years of not-for-profit experience to the firm. He has served a variety of health and human service providers, providing audit, accounting and informational tax return preparation services.

Chris will be responsible for expanding and growing the not-for-profit practice. With this practice, Rizzo DiGiacco & Hern look to help area tax-exempt organizations better achieve their missions while providing high quality accounting services for a low fee.

Chris holds a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from the State University of New York at Geneseo. He is the Board Treasurer of Bivona Child Advocacy Center, the Board President of Court Appointed Special Advocates of Rochester/Monroe County (CASA), and the President-Elect of the Rochester Regional Chapter of Healthcare Financial Management Association (HFMA). He is a member of both the AICPA and the New York State Society of CPA’s.
